PRESS RELEASE 27.3.2008
STADELMAIER BV
NIJMEGEN-HOLLAND
“Herzlich Dank voor de Bloemen (Thank you very much for the flowers )… “ those now traditional words could be heard on Eastermorning at Saint Peter’s square in Rome. This time pronounced by Pope Benedict XVI .In spite of the rain and the snow hundreds of thousand believers had gathered, surrounded by the beauty of the Dutch flowers. Catholics from all over the world, to hear and see the Holy Father and get His Orbi@Urbi Blessing.
Only a few do realize that those immense celebrations, as there will be in April in New York and Washington DC during the Papal visit do need a perfect technical organization of the liturgical ceremonies. This place in the market has become a new specialism for a Dutch company from Nijmegen, that obtained a good name with these activities!
Already in 1995 when the former Pope John Paul II was the Maincelebrant, during his visit to New York and Newark, Stadelmaier was the supplier of 1200 chasubles for New York and 1400 chasubles for Newark.
The large and substantial concelebration vestmentsets for the Archdiocese of New York and Washington, now on order for the Papal visit are a logical consequence of a satisfied customer. Also there will be added a large set of miters, to have a complete and united look.
For the logistics of liturgical celebrations this is an exceptional task for a studio specialized in paraments. This studio was founded in 1930 by the grandfather of the current general manager Aart Stadelmaier (43).
During the Pastoral visit Aart Stadelmaier, Brian Baker and the complete Team of Baker Liturgical Art and Stadelmaier USA will be present to guide and control the logistics around the Sacristies and dressing procedures.
The pressure of time will be immense. At that moment the Pope, 20 Cardinals and 200 bishops will be wearing chasubles an miters made in Europe, specially designed and made for the occasion! With a classical touch and gothic influences, corresponding to the wish of the Archdioceses.
The Holy Father Benedict XVI will be the third pope in a row who will be wearing Stadelmaier Vestments during official visits. His predecessor Pope Paul VI, was a client at grandfather Arthur Stadelmaier, and Pope John Paul II was a satisfied and successful wearer of Ben Stadelmaier’s creations.
Two of the vestments Ben Stadelmaier developed for Papal wear are the eye catchers now at a great exhibition organized by the archdiocese of Los Angeles. This exhibition is
named: “ For the greater Glory of God” .
In the only 5 years old Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels there are Stadelmaier creations on show from 1930 till 5 years ago, when the Cathedral board purchased a very large concelebration set for the consecration of the Cathedral.
The subtitle; “ Stadelmaier, Seventy Years of Heavenly
Fashion “, proves that the customer aspecially in troublesome times appreciates a good and reliable supplier. And suddenly that immense Catholic Church changes into a small world!
